Open Letter to Carolina Blue Magazine Subscribers Announcing New Format

Dear Carolina Blue Subscribers,

Over the last 30 years, the North Carolina Tar Heels have claimed an amazing 36 NCAA National Championships in team sports including four men's basketball titles (1982, 1993, 2005, and 2009). During that same time we have witnessed some of the biggest names - not just in UNC sports history -but all sports history playing or coaching in Chapel Hill. Dean Smith, Roy Williams, Michael Jordan, Mia Hamm, and Julius Peppers are just a few of those talented athletes and coaches that Carolina fans have had the pleasure to watch through the years.

Carolina Blue, which has been there for our loyal subscribers over those same 30 years, has provided our readers with coverage all along the way. As the winning tradition has continued at North Carolina over the decades, media and technology have changed dramatically. Carolina Blue has evolved through the decades adding digital editions of our magazine and the ever popular But that is nothing compared to what is in store.

Starting in August, we will offer our readers a better product, delivered in a more efficient manner and, best of all, more frequently with more North Carolina athletics coverage than ever before, exclusively for our subscribers!

Changes to the Carolina Blue magazine

We will continue to publish and mail a printed magazine, but with substantial changes. The new Carolina Blue magazine, which debuts in August, will convert to a brilliant full-color, glossy magazine very similar in makeup to Sports Illustrated ®. The glossy Carolina Blue magazine will be published 12 times a year and will include information that is far less time sensitive, allowing us to focus more on in-depth features, analysis and commentary. By doing this, we can provide you with a magazine that is not out of date when it arrives in your mailbox.

Introducing Carolina Blue Express

In addition to the glossy magazine, beginning this fall, we will also provide you with a new full-color, reader-friendly digital magazine available exclusively to our subscribers over the Internet. Beginning with the football season, Carolina Blue Express will provide subscribers with a preview North Carolina's upcoming game(s) with stats, analysis and the all-important coach's comments from the early week press conference. Carolina Blue Express will also cover basketball and football recruiting, spring football, baseball, and major UNC events such as a championship, coaching change, and more. Carolina Blue subscribers will be notified via email when the latest Carolina Blue Express is ready. So don't forget to provide us with your email address! You can register for Carolina Blue Express at: Register for e-Edition/Express.

Our improvements to the Carolina Blue print magazine and our new digital magazine provide the best of both worlds. Carolina Blue subscribers get a vastly improved glossy print magazine and an up-to-the-minute digital magazine for more North Carolina sports coverage than ever before ... and all for the same low price of $49.95.
